Artist's Statement
'Anglerfish" and 'Cow Fish' are from a series of works titled Fish Portraits.

With these works I have used my status as artist to act not only as a privileged interpreter of nature but as an inventor, as the fish portrayed have been distorted and changed to emphasize the bizarre and endearing nature of the world beneath the sea. The works aim to excite curiosity to the diversity of our oceans and the life therein and to enlist help in their protection.
