How many are there?
The number of Dead Zones in our oceans has doubled in the last 10 years. Today, there are about 150 known Dead Zones, occurring mainly around the coasts of highly developed countries such as Australia. Some Dead Zones are relatively small, less than one square kilometre in size, however others stretch over 70,000 square kilometres!
